Teenager Killed in Collision on Highway 101 Near San Jose
SAN JOSE, CA — A fatal crash occurred on Highway 101 southbound at approximately 2:41 p.m. on October 15, 2023, resulting in the death of a 17-year-old male.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision involved two vehicles: a sedan and an SUV. Witnesses reported that the SUV lost control and veered into oncoming traffic, colliding with the sedan. The teenager, a passenger in the sedan, suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities confirmed that two other individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The identities of those involved have not been released pending notification of their families.
Emergency response included the California Highway Patrol and local fire services, who managed the scene and assisted injured parties. Tow crews were called in to remove the vehicles, leading to temporary lane closures on the southbound side of the highway.
