WHITEHALL — A 34-year-old woman from Louisiana was killed in a crash on Montana Highway 69 near Whitehall on Monday afternoon.
A vehicle, driven by a 33-year-old man from Milwaukee, lost control while passing other cars at a high rate of speed. The car rolled multiple times, ejecting the passenger, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The Montana Highway Patrol reported that alcohol, speed, and improper seatbelt use are believed to be contributing factors in the incident.
According to the Montana Department of Transportation, there have been 13 fatalities on Montana highways in 2026, down from 16 fatalities during the same period in 2025.
