Two Hospitalized Following Route 196 Collision in Lisbon, Maine
LISBON, ME — Two individuals were hospitalized after a crash involving a Volvo SUV and a Ford F-150 on Route 196 on Tuesday morning.
Authorities received a 911 call just before 7 a.m. regarding the collision at Lisbon Street near Summer Street. Preliminary reports indicate the Volvo was turning left onto Route 196 when it collided with the westbound pickup truck.
The driver of the Volvo, a 53-year-old woman, was trapped and extricated by the Lisbon Fire Department. She was transported to Central Maine Medical Center with serious injuries. The 30-year-old male driver of the Ford also sustained serious injuries and was taken to Maine Medical Center. Neither driver's name has been released.
Visuals from the scene indicate significant damage to both vehicles, with the Volvo deemed a total loss. Maine State Police deployed drone technology for crash reconstruction, while the Sagadahoc County Sheriff's Office assisted with traffic control. Lisbon Public Works provided road detours.
The crash remains under investigation. Authorities thanked the community for their patience during traffic delays and acknowledged witnesses who provided assistance before emergency personnel arrived.
