WINONA COUNTY, MN — A 72-year-old woman was killed while crossing Highway 61 early Thursday morning, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
At approximately 4:40 a.m., deputies responded to a pedestrian struck in the left southbound lane of Highway 61 at Winona County 7. Authorities reported that the woman, identified as Lois Irene Davis of Winona, exited her vehicle after it crashed into a ditch while traveling eastbound on Winona County 7.
Witnesses indicated that as Davis crossed Highway 61, she was first hit by one vehicle that stopped, followed by another. The road conditions were wet at the time of the incident.
Emergency services attended the scene, but the extent of injuries or fatalities was confirmed only for Davis. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details on lane closures or tows have been released.
Authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution in the area.
