One Dead in Cottage Grove Crash on Highway 61
COTTAGE GROVE, MN – One person is dead following a crash on Highway 61 Wednesday evening, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Authorities report a Chevrolet Equinox was southbound on Highway 61 when a Hyundai Genesis collided with it after entering the highway from a golf course near Kingsborough Trail. The impact caused the Chevrolet to roll multiple times, resulting in the driver being ejected.
Crystal Rae Maciewski, 43, of Hastings, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and no one else was in her vehicle.
The driver of the Hyundai was the sole occupant and sustained no injuries. Emergency response teams were on scene to assist.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
