NEPHI, Utah (KUTV) — A rollover crash in Juab County on April 2 resulted in the death of a 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:17 p.m. on Weiss Highway, where a Chevrolet Silverado pickup was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed. According to the Juab County Sheriff's Office, the vehicle lost control, left the roadway, and rolled over multiple times.
Three juveniles—two 15-year-old boys and a 17-year-old girl, all from Riverton—were in the truck at the time. All were ejected from the vehicle and were not wearing seat belts. The 15-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 17-year-old girl later succumbed to her injuries at a hospital. The other 15-year-old boy remains in critical condition at Primary Children's Hospital.
Authorities stated, “The exact cause of this tragic accident is still under investigation. However, the primary contributing factors are related to high-speed travel and lack of occupant restraint use.”
Emergency responders are continuing to assess the scene, and further investigations are underway.
