PHOENIX, Ore. — A Yreka man died in a car crash on Tuesday, May 13, on Highway 99.
Oregon State Police (OSP) reported that a BMW 3 Series traveling northbound was struck from behind by a Honda Accord, also northbound. The collision occurred as the BMW attempted to change lanes, resulting in the Honda rolling over and ejecting its driver.
The driver of the Honda, 45-year-old William Gann of Yreka, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed that Gann was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The driver of the BMW, 20-year-old Justine Castaneda of Medford, sustained minor injuries, according to OSP.
Emergency responders included OSP, the Phoenix Police Department, Jackson County Fire, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
No further details on the investigation have been released.
