DES MOINES, Iowa — A single-vehicle crash early Thursday morning resulted in the death of a 31-year-old man.
Samuel Shaver, a Des Moines resident, lost control of his 2021 Chevrolet pickup truck shortly after 6 a.m. while driving westbound in the 700 block of East Ovid Avenue, according to the Des Moines Police Department. The vehicle struck a utility pole, a fence, and a tree before coming to rest against a house.
Shaver was the sole occupant of the vehicle. He was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries.
The crash is under investigation by local authorities.
