DES MOINES, Iowa — McKinley Avenue is closed Sunday afternoon due to a single-vehicle crash that damaged a utility pole and caused power line outages, sparking a grassfire.
According to the Des Moines Fire Department, the incident occurred between Southwest 26th and Southwest 31st Street. Fire crews are on scene to manage the grassfire, while MidAmerican Energy crews are repairing the damaged utility pole and restoring electricity.
Drivers are advised to avoid McKinley Avenue and use Park Avenue or Army Post Road as alternate routes. No injuries have been reported at this time. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
