CARROLL COUNTY, Tenn. (WZTV) — On Friday, March 27, a school crash in Carroll County resulted in the deaths of two students and several injuries.

The bus, associated with the Clarksville Montgomery County School System, was en route to a field trip when it collided with a dump truck. Authorities confirmed that the Alabama National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is launching an investigation into the incident.

According to Tennessee Highway Patrol, the driver, identified as Sabrina Ducksworth, was following the crash. Reports from family members suggest she may have experienced a stroke, although this has not been verified by authorities. CMCSS spokesperson stated there were no prior disciplinary issues on Ducksworth's record, and she has worked for the school system since July 2021.

Dashcam footage shows the bus crossing double yellow lines before the collision. Investigators are reviewing the video as part of the ongoing inquiry into the crash's circumstances, including driver performance and safety protocols.

Community members are mourning the loss of the two students while rallying around those injured. “It was a terrible thing, devastating,” said Timothy Mimms, a parent of a student at Kenwood Middle School.

As the investigation continues, local authorities urge anyone with additional information to come forward. Further updates will be provided as more details become available.
