Folsom Man Killed in Off-Road Vehicle Crash on Highway 25 in Franklinton
Franklinton, LA – A Folsom man was killed in an off-road vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 25 on Sunday, according to Louisiana State Police.
Timothy Blackwell, 48, was driving a Can-Am multi-seat UTV when he was thrown from the vehicle around 1:20 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 25 and E. Daniels Road.
Troopers reported that Blackwell was operating the UTV on the northbound shoulder when he entered the northbound lane, where a 2004 Saturn ION struck him. He was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the UTV, being declared dead at the scene.
Authorities confirmed that a passenger in Blackwell's UTV and the driver of the Saturn sustained injuries and were transported to local hospitals.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and routine toxicology samples have been taken from both drivers, according to State Police.
