Selma Woman Killed in Highway 199 Crash on January 7
Jan. 9, 2026, 9:22 a.m. PT — A 47-year-old Selma woman died in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 199 near milepost 10 in Josephine County on the morning of January 7.
According to the Oregon State Police, Marisha Lynn Trainor, 52, was driving a Toyota Tundra when she swerved to avoid a deer, lost control, and rolled multiple times along the highway's shoulder. The vehicle ultimately came to rest on its roof.
Trainor sustained minor injuries; however, her passenger, 47-year-old Teddie Dianne Tibbets, was pronounced dead at the scene. No further information regarding other potential injuries has been provided.
Emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
