SALLEY, SC — A Salley man died Saturday night in a two-vehicle crash involving a moped and a pickup truck on Walker Road.
The collision occurred around 7:46 p.m. in the 100 block of Walker Road, according to the Aiken County Coroner's Office. Donald Rushton, 61, was riding a 2018 Hozhou three-wheeled moped heading north when he was struck from behind by a northbound 2011 Toyota Tundra.
Rushton was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:25 p.m. from injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the Toyota was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities stated that the Aiken County Coroner's Office, along with the South Carolina Multi-Disciplinary Accident Investigation Team, is investigating the incident. An autopsy for Rushton is scheduled for next week in Newberry.
