One Dead in Motorcycle Crash on I-235 Near Keo Way
DES MOINES, Iowa — A 19-year-old man died following a motorcycle crash early Saturday morning on Interstate 235, near Keo Way. The incident occurred at 2:15 a.m.
Emergency crews attempted life-saving measures at the scene, but the victim was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. Authorities confirmed that the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed, lost control, and subsequently crashed before igniting.
The accident remains under investigation, with the identification of the victim pending.
According to the Iowa Department of Transportation, 44 fatalities have occurred on Iowa roads this year, representing an increase from the same period in 2025. Over the past five years, an average of 337 people have died in statewide crashes annually.
