Tiger Woods Arrested for DUI Following Crash in Martin County
MARTIN COUNTY, FL — Tiger Woods was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence on Friday afternoon after a crash involving his Land Rover and a pickup truck.
The incident occurred shortly before 2 p.m. on South Beach Road, according to Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek. Woods' vehicle reportedly clipped the rear of the pickup truck, which was pulling a small trailer, causing the Land Rover to roll onto its side.
Authorities said Woods displayed signs of impairment upon their arrival. Budensiek noted that Woods was cooperative but refused to take a urine test after passing a breathalyzer with a result of zero blood alcohol content. He has been charged with DUI, property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test.
Woods, 50, was able to exit his vehicle through the passenger door and was not injured in the accident. He is being held in custody for at least eight hours, with authorities indicating he would not receive preferential treatment due to his status.
This incident marks the latest in a series of legal issues for the 15-time major golf champion, who previously faced DUI charges in 2017 and has been involved in prior accidents.
Woods is currently recovering from injuries sustained during his golf career and is expected to return to competitive play soon.
