Wilmington Crash Claims Three Lives; Driver Charged

An early morning crash in Wilmington on March 21 resulted in three fatalities, with a 30-year-old man charged with manslaughter and DUI.

A 48-year-old man, a 35-year-old woman, and a 41-year-old man died when their vehicle was struck at Ninth and Walnut streets, according to Wilmington Police.

Officers responded around 4:18 a.m., apprehending Nicholas Resto, the driver of the striking vehicle, who was later transported to the hospital in stable condition.

Resto faces three counts of manslaughter and charges for driving under the influence, with authorities noting that he was at the time of the incident.

After being arraigned, Resto was committed to the Department of Correction without a possibility of bail, set at $105,200.

Further updates on the investigation will be released as information becomes available, police said.
