BISMARCK — A second Mandan teenager has died from injuries sustained in a crash linked to street racing.
Benjamin Moch, 17, succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital on Monday afternoon, according to Bismarck Police. He had been a passenger in a Chevrolet Equinox involved in a crash on Friday, Oct. 2.
The incident also claimed the life of 16-year-old Taylor Fisher, a junior at Mandan High School. Both Moch and Fisher were students at Mandan High and had been in a relationship since August 2025. The Equinox was reportedly making a left turn from West Main Avenue onto Missouri Avenue when it was struck by a Nissan Infiniti driven by 19-year-old Cameron Schlester, police said.
Schlester was allegedly racing another vehicle west on Main Avenue at a high speed when the collision occurred. Although he sustained severe injuries, authorities reported he is expected to recover. The 15-year-old driver of the Equinox was injured but is also expected to recover; his name has not been released.
Bismarck Police confirmed that no criminal charges had been filed against Schlester as of Tuesday afternoon. Authorities are conducting a complete investigation and crash reconstruction, with findings to be sent to the Burleigh County State's Attorney's Office for review.
The crash has resulted in a significant outpouring of grief within the Mandan community. A makeshift memorial near the crash scene has emerged, with flowers and messages of sympathy. A candlelight vigil held at Mandan High School attracted hundreds, including students and parents, in support of those affected by the tragedy.
