DICKINSON — A serious scooter crash occurred Saturday afternoon near Dickinson Middle School, resulting in the death of a juvenile.
Authorities confirmed the accident happened around 2:41 p.m. on 30th Avenue West, between 18th and 19th Streets West. The North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) reported that the juvenile, who was riding a 2021 Honda WW150 scooter, died at the scene after the vehicle struck a light pole.
Emergency responders arrived at the location to provide aid. NDHP indicated the juvenile was wearing a helmet during the incident. The roadway, which has a speed limit of 35 miles per hour, was temporarily closed for the investigation.
Witnesses reported the scooter overturned after veering right while traveling southbound. Towing services were called to remove the vehicle from the scene.
NDHP is leading the investigation, but specifics regarding further inquiries or charges have not been released.
