Family of Four Injured in Crash Involving Fire Truck on I-85
GASTONIA, N.C. — A family of four was injured on Thursday afternoon when their vehicle collided with a parked fire truck on I-85.
According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 2:41 p.m. near mile marker 19. The family, traveling northbound, was unable to avoid the fire truck, which was parked with its lights activated while emergency responders were at the scene of an earlier accident.
Emergency medical personnel from Gaston County EMS responded to the scene and transported the injured individuals to a local hospital. Their conditions have not been disclosed.
Authorities reported that the left lane of I-85 was closed for approximately two hours while first responders attended to the situation and cleared the roadway. Towing services were also called to remove the vehicles involved.
The investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been released at this time.
