AIKEN — A single-vehicle crash in Aiken on Sept. 7 has resulted in the death of a local woman.
The incident occurred around 9:12 p.m. on the 400 block of Monetta Street. A Honda Civic traveling north exited the roadway, struck a tree, and caught fire.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:43 p.m. A passenger sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The Aiken County Coroner's Office stated that the driver's identity will be released pending positive identification due to thermal injuries. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
