PROVO, Utah (KUTV) — A 63-year-old bicyclist was killed after being struck by a car on University Avenue near Interstate 15 on Monday morning.
The Provo Police Department reported the incident occurred shortly after 8:00 a.m. The cyclist was struck by a vehicle exiting the freeway at the intersection.
The victim was transported to Utah Valley Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities confirmed that the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
Following the crash, northbound lanes of University Avenue were closed. Provo PD indicated that the road is expected to reopen by noon. Drivers are advised to anticipate delays and consider alternate routes.
