Portland, ME – October 1, 2023 – An 88-year-old man from New Hampshire was involved in a head-on collision after entering I-295 in the wrong direction near Tukey's Bridge.
The incident occurred around 2:41 p.m. and involved two vehicles. Authorities confirmed that both drivers sustained injuries. Emergency response teams from the Portland Fire Department and MEDC were on-site to provide medical aid.
According to the Maine State Police, the wrong-way driver was heading northbound in the southbound lanes. The crash resulted in lane closures as crews worked to clear the scene and investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
