Taylor Swift Donates $50,000 to Injured Mother After Highway Rescue

Hopkinton, RI — Pop star Taylor Swift donated $50,000 to assist Ashley Taunton, a Connecticut mother seriously injured while helping crash victims on Interstate 95 on July 22.

According to reports, Taunton was driving with her youngest daughter when she encountered a that had hydroplaned. Witnesses said she pulled over to assist the teenagers involved, instructing her daughter to stay in the vehicle and call her husband. As she helped them, another vehicle lost control, striking Taunton as she pushed one of the teens to safety.

Taunton suffered life-threatening injuries, including a ruptured diaphragm, broken ribs, and internal bleeding. She has undergone three major surgeries and is currently in recovery. Her husband stated that, if all goes well, she should regain the ability to walk.

Taunton was later identified to have helped the son of a longtime friend during the accident. Swift's donation was made through a GoFundMe campaign established to cover medical expenses and household costs for Taunton and her family.

“It's been a journey,” her husband told reporters, expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support they have received. The GoFundMe campaign continues to raise funds to aid in their recovery process.
