MARRERO, La. — A school bus accident on the U.S. 90 Business Expressway resulted in 15 children requiring medical evaluation on Tuesday morning.
The crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. near MacArthur Boulevard during peak commute hours, blocking two lanes. Traffic has since been cleared and is moving.
According to Louisiana State Police, there were 46 children on the bus at the time of the incident. The 15 students taken to a local medical center were evaluated as a precaution, though no serious injuries were reported.
Authorities have not identified the school associated with the children involved. In a statement, the Young Audiences Charter School confirmed that the bus was en route to the YACS Gautier Campus and expressed gratitude that all students were unharmed.
School officials activated safety protocols, informing parents and guardians promptly. The well-being of students remains the school's highest priority.
