HONOLULU (Island News) – A collision involving an e-motorcycle in Kaimuki early Tuesday left a 33-year-old man critically injured.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:27 a.m. on Waialae Ave, where a 67-year-old man, traveling eastbound, turned left into a driveway and was broadsided by the e-motorcyclist.
The 33-year-old rider was ejected from the vehicle and transported by Honolulu Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in critical condition. Authorities confirmed he was not wearing a helmet during the collision. The 67-year-old driver, who remained at the scene, did not sustain any injuries.
Temporary road closures were enacted from 6:44 a.m. to 8:23 a.m. on Waialae Ave, but all lanes have since reopened. Preliminary investigations suggest speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors; however, it remains unclear if drugs contributed to the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
