Laurel Man Dies in Route 9 Crash Near Harbeson
HARBeson, DE—A two-car collision on Route 9 resulted in the death of a 25-year-old Laurel man on Oct. 16 around 6:15 p.m.
According to Delaware State Police, a Honda Civic driven by Guidel Ramirez-Lopez was traveling westbound when it crossed into the eastbound lane. The Civic collided head-on with an Audi A4 driven by an 18-year-old woman from Hockessin.
Ramirez-Lopez was not properly restrained and was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The Audi driver sustained nonlife-threatening injuries and was also taken to the hospital.
Authorities reported that Route 9 was closed during the investigation and cleanup of the scene. The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating the incident. They urge anyone with information to contact Sgt. A.
