NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A Florida police officer saved a woman's life after a vehicle struck pedestrians on Broadway on August 1.
According to authorities, Officer Chase Thompson of the Boynton Beach Police Department was walking with his fiancée when a white sedan hit multiple pedestrians near Fourth Avenue. Dianne Cooper, one of the victims, fell in front of Thompson.
With no identification or uniform, Thompson provided CPR immediately. “I knew somebody needed help, and I had the training,” he stated.
Thompson wasn't alone in helping the victims, but his swift actions were crucial for Cooper's family.
Days later, Cooper's husband updated Thompson on her recovery, expressing gratitude, which Thompson described as meaningful. “We usually don't hear back after a critical incident,” he said.
Cooper's family expressed their thanks publicly, acknowledging Thompson's role in saving her life.
While Cooper's husband labeled Thompson a hero, Thompson remained humble. “I wouldn't say hero; I was just glad I could help,” he remarked.
This case is notable for Thompson, who often does not get follow-ups on his calls. “It was nice to hear,” he noted.
