HONOLULU (Island News) — Two women were hospitalized following an eight-car collision on the H-1 Freeway west near the Waipahu exit at approximately 3:45 p.m. on Friday, August 7.
Honolulu Emergency Medical Services (EMS) treated a 51-year-old woman for serious injuries and a 39-year-old woman for minor injuries. A 41-year-old woman was evaluated at the scene but declined hospital transport.
The Hawaii Department of Transportation reported that the incident blocked three lanes before the H-1/H-2 split. All lanes were reopened within an hour as first responders cleared the scene.
Authorities did not report the cause or contributing factors of the accident, including any involvement of speed, alcohol, or drugs.
