MADISON, Wis. (WKOW) — Madison Police Officer Ryan Kimberley was released from the hospital over a month after a crash with a tow truck driver.
According to a Facebook post from Capital K9s, Officer Kimberley is now home but will require ongoing medical treatment and rehabilitation. More than 100 first responders applauded as he departed the hospital.
Investigators reported that a tow truck, driven by Christopher Brugger Jr., collided with Kimberley's squad car in McFarland, ending a multi-jurisdictional pursuit. Brugger has since been charged with numerous criminal offenses related to the incident.
Officer Kimberley's K9 partner, Freddie, was present in the squad car during the crash. Capital K9s confirmed that Freddie has fully recovered and is training with a different handler while Kimberley undergoes rehabilitation.
