WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — A demolition derby driver was airlifted after a driver-side collision at the Fayette County Fairgrounds on Saturday, July 25.
Emergency crews extricated the driver and established a landing zone at the fairgrounds for a medical helicopter. The driver was flown to a hospital; identity and condition were not released, according to the Washington Court House Record Herald.
Derbydog Inc., the event organizer, issued a lifetime ban to driver Hunter Wolf of Lynchburg, Ohio, on Monday, July 27, citing the direct driver-side hit, according to a statement posted to Facebook.
Other promoters said they also banned Wolf from their events, including Head-On Derby Promotions in western New York and northeast Pennsylvania; the New Alexandria Lions Club in eastern Ohio; Twisted Metal Motorsports in Kentucky and Indiana; and Smash It Demolition Derby in Ohio and Indiana, according to statements posted on July 27.
Authorities did not release further details on the injured driver. The extent of injuries remains unknown, authorities said.
