Lede: A Halloween-themed yard display in Oak Cliff, Dallas, featuring a zombie car crash, has gone viral, drawing numerous visitors.
Steven Novak, the creator, designed the elaborate display at 1414 Lansford Avenue, incorporating elements such as animatronic zombies and a flaming crash scene. The project took six months to complete, with special attention to the movement of the robotic figures.
“Once it makes me start to laugh, that's when I know I'm onto something,” Novak stated. Each zombie, named for ease, includes characters like “Mo,” who swings from a tree, “Larry,” who drinks glowing green liquid from a drum, and “Curly,” who examines the scene.
Despite the extensive effort, Novak admitted he is not a fan of Halloween. “It gives me an excuse to do a bunch of cool stuff outside because I'm an artist,” he remarked.
The display has attracted considerable attention, amassing tens of thousands of shares on Instagram. “People are looking for some levity… some joy and some nonsense,” said Novak, highlighting the appeal of his creation during the holiday season.
