Fatal Crash on Route 79 in Marlboro Claims Life of 21-Year-Old
Marlboro, NJ — A crash on Route 79 claimed the life of 21-year-old Juan Rico on Sunday afternoon.
The accident occurred at approximately 2:41 p.m. involving two vehicles near the intersection of County Road 520. Authorities said Rico was pronounced dead at the scene. A second driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Emergency responders from the MONMOUTH COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE and MARLBORO POLICE DEPARTMENT arrived shortly after the accident. They closed one lane of Route 79 while attending to the scene.
Witnesses reported heavy traffic in both directions following the incident, with delays lasting over an hour. Tow trucks were called to remove wreckage from the roadway.
