Authorities Seek Public Assistance in Neptune Fatal Crash Investigation
NEPTUNE, NJ — Authorities are requesting information from the public as they investigate a fatal crash that occurred on October 10, 2023, at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Route 66 East.
Initial reports indicate the collision involved two vehicles, a sedan and an SUV. The driver of the sedan, a 34-year-old male, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Emergency Medical Services. The driver of the SUV suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Responding agencies included the Neptune Police Department and the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, which is leading the investigation. Witnesses reported heavy traffic and lane closures in both directions immediately following the incident; multiple tow trucks were dispatched to clear the wreckage.
