DeKALB COUNTY, Ill. (WREX) — A crash in rural DeKalb County on Monday morning resulted in one fatality and one injury.
The two-car collision occurred just after 9 a.m. at the intersection of Illinois Rt. 64 and County Line Rd., near the DeKalb/Kane County Line, approximately five miles east of downtown Sycamore.
According to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, a vehicle stopped at the stop sign on southbound County Line Rd. entered the intersection, colliding with a westbound car on Rt. 64. The impact caused the southbound vehicle to spin into a ditch while the westbound vehicle spun in the intersection.
The driver of the southbound car was transported to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, where they were pronounced dead. The westbound driver's injuries were non-life-threatening, and they were also taken to the hospital for treatment.
Illinois Rt. 64 was reopened to traffic by 11:30 a.m., as confirmed by authorities. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
