A man has been charged following a deadly crash in Nicholas County, authorities said.
Harley David Webb, 22, faces charges for allegedly leaving the scene of a crash that resulted in the death of 70-year-old Ralph Edward Martin Jr., according to the Nicholas County Sheriff's Office.
The two-vehicle collision occurred around 1:30 p.m. in the 2000 block of Route 41 in Mount Nebo, deputies reported. Investigators stated Webb struck Martin's pickup truck after “pulling out of his driveway in a reckless manner.” Martin succumbed to his injuries on the scene.
Webb was apprehended in Summersville and is currently held at Central Regional Jail on a $15,000 cash-only bond.
According to officials, no other injuries were reported in the incident. Route 41 was closed for over two hours as emergency crews worked to clear the site.
Assistance was provided by Summersville and Keslers Cross Lanes fire departments, Jan-Care Ambulance, and the Nicholas County Sheriff's Office.
