Kate Beckinsale Joins Cast of New Shark Survival Film “White”
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – December 5, 2023 – Actress Kate Beckinsale is set to star in “White,” directed by Jake West, alongside Katherine McNamara, as announced at ELLE's 2023 Women in Hollywood Celebration.
The film follows a struggling actress who, upon traveling for a film shoot, finds herself stranded after her private jet crashes into the Pacific Ocean. With only a satellite phone salvaged from the wreck, she faces dire circumstances when her studio boss, played by Beckinsale, ignores her rescue plea. A marine biologist, portrayed by McNamara, informs her of the perilous location known for great white shark activity.
In addition to starring, Beckinsale will serve as an executive producer on the project. The producing team includes Yariv Lerner, Dominic Burns, Crawford Anderson-Dillon, and Sky Morfopoulos. Highland Film Group is managing worldwide sales. Highland Film Group CEO Arianne Fraser described “White” as an intense adventure filled with tension and emotion.
This announcement comes as interest in shark survival movies grows, following Netflix's recent release of “Thrash,” which features sharks in a hurricane scenario, as well as the ongoing cult status of the “Sharknado” franchise.
