75-Year-Old Cyclist Fatally Struck by Dump Truck in Boulder County Accident.

BOULDER, Colo. – A 75-year-old bicyclist from Lafayette was killed in a collision with a dump truck on Highway 119 at 11 a.m. Friday.

According to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP), the cyclist was struck as the dump truck driver turned right from Niwot Road onto Highway 119. The cyclist was approaching the traffic light when the incident occurred.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities. CSP's initial investigation revealed that as the traffic signal turned green, the dump truck made its turn, colliding with the and throwing the rider off.

The right turn lane from eastbound Niwot Road to southbound Highway 119 has been coned off and is closed to traffic. CSP's Vehicular Crimes Unit is leading the investigation into the crash.

The Boulder County Coroner's Office will release the identity of the deceased cyclist.
