A wrong-way crash on southbound Interstate 25 in Douglas County early Wednesday resulted in serious injuries to one driver, authorities said.
The incident occurred at 5:12 a.m. near Plum Creek Parkway in Castle Rock, according to the Colorado State Patrol. A 56-year-old man from Cheyenne, Wyoming, was driving a Chevrolet Silverado north in the southbound left lane when he hit the center concrete barrier before colliding head-on with a southbound silver Toyota Camry.
The Silverado driver was transported to a local hospital, while the Camry driver, a 36-year-old man from Aurora, was uninjured.
Southbound I-25 remained closed until just before 7 a.m. following the crash. The investigation is ongoing, and it remains unclear if drugs or alcohol were involved, authorities reported.
