Onslow County officials reported a fatal crash late Friday night on Drummer Kellum Road. The incident occurred just after 11:00 p.m.
According to State Highway Patrol, a single-vehicle rollover took place near Jennifer Drive when the driver lost control and struck a culvert.
The 20-year-old driver was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities stated that speed and the absence of a seatbelt were contributing factors in the accident.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene, and the roadway was temporarily closed for investigation and cleanup.
