HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. — A 19-year-old Indianapolis man died Tuesday afternoon in a crash involving a tree, according to the Hancock County Sheriff's Department.
The wreck occurred at approximately 2:40 p.m. near the intersection of County Roads 600 North and 350 West, northeast of the Indianapolis Regional Airport.
Responding deputies discovered a severely damaged 2001 Crown Victoria with the driver, identified as Antoine Stowers. First responders reported he showed “no signs of life.”
Firefighters and EMS extricated Stowers from the vehicle; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities stated that Stowers was traveling west on 600 North, likely at a high rate of speed, when he veered off the roadway and struck a tree. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Deputies do not believe drugs or alcohol contributed to the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
