CENTERVILLE — A pedestrian was struck in a car-SUV crash Tuesday afternoon at the U.S. 40 intersection with Hildabrand Road, about 3 miles west of Centerville, authorities said.
The incident occurred shortly before 3 p.m. A preliminary investigation indicated that a 2000 silver Buick LeSabre, driven by 82-year-old Jerry Eugene Plummer, collided with the rear of a 2017 blue Mazda CX-5 SUV, operated by 47-year-old Joyce Nicole Deloney. The impact propelled Deloney's SUV into 28-year-old pedestrian Isaiah Marquis Thomas.
Thomas, Deloney, and a juvenile passenger in Plummer's vehicle were transported to Reid Health in Richmond with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. The full extent of their injuries is still unknown.
Wayne County Emergency Communications received multiple 911 calls regarding the crash, prompting a response from the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, Centerville Fire/Rescue, and Reid Health EMS.
Authorities confirmed that Thomas was livestreaming a fundraising effort for underprivileged children when the incident occurred. The crash was reportedly captured live on Twitch, although this detail has not been fully verified by the sheriff's office.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office has not yet concluded its investigation into the accident.
