Fletcher, N.C. (WLOS) — A head-on collision between a small SUV and a dump truck on Mills Gap Road resulted in the death of a 17-year-old girl on Monday, Oct. 13, authorities confirmed.
The crash occurred shortly before 10:30 a.m. Emergency responders from the Fletcher Police Department, Henderson County EMS, and Fletcher Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the scene. The deceased has been identified as Brianna Henn, a senior at North Henderson High School, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, students, and staff at North Henderson High School,” said the Fletcher Police Department. “This is a terrible day for our community.”
In a statement, Henderson County Public Schools expressed their sorrow over the loss, noting that support services will be available at North Henderson High School starting Wednesday, Oct. 15. The district's Crisis Team will provide care to students and staff grieving this loss.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, with authorities still gathering details. There were no other confirmed injuries reported at this time.
