HEBRON, Ky. (LEX 18) — A 16-year-old boy was killed, and three others were injured in a single-vehicle crash on Bullittsville Road late Sunday night.
According to the Boone County Sheriff's Office, Zachary Snyder of Burlington was a front-seat passenger in a 2015 Honda Accord that crashed around 10:34 p.m. Snyder was ejected from the vehicle and found trapped underneath, where he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities reported that the 17-year-old driver lost control while navigating a sharp right-hand curve, causing the vehicle to cross the center line. The driver overcorrected, leading the car off the right side of the road, striking several trees and overturning.
The driver and two backseat passengers, a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old, managed to exit the overturned vehicle independently. They were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators indicated that speed may have played a role in the incident. Officials noted that neither the driver nor Snyder was wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
Bullittsville Road remained closed for several hours while the investigation was conducted. The Boone County Sheriff's Office Accident Reconstruction Team is continuing to investigate the collision.
