LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Two men are in custody after allegedly fleeing from LMPD, leading to a serious collision that injured two people on October 7.
According to authorities, the incident began around 2:41 p.m. when an LMPD officer observed a black Dodge Ram pickup running red lights at South 7th Street and South 6th Street. The driver failed to stop when signaled and continued at a high rate of speed.
Officers noted the significant risk of serious injury to others and chose to terminate the pursuit. The truck subsequently crashed into multiple vehicles at the intersection of South 6th Street and West Breckenridge Street, causing serious injuries to one driver and additional injuries to another person.
Witnesses reported that two individuals exited the truck and fled the scene. The following day, 39-year-old Brandon Bruin Sr. reported the Dodge Ram as stolen. Surveillance footage reviewed by LMPD confirmed Bruin's involvement and showed him fleeing after the crash.
The second occupant of the vehicle was identified as 35-year-old Deonte Rudolph. Both men were arrested on October 13 after being implicated in the incident. Rudolph waived his Miranda rights and informed detectives that Bruin was driving and fled due to outstanding warrants.
Bruin faces charges including assault, fleeing or evading police, leaving the scene of a serious injury crash, and multiple traffic violations. Rudolph is charged with complicity to these offenses.
Both men appeared in court on Saturday; Bruin's bond was set at $25,000, while Rudolph's was set at $10,000.
