DARIEN, N.Y. (WKBW/CNN Newsource/WKRC) — An 11-year-old boy died following a go-kart accident in Darien on Sunday afternoon.
According to the Genesee County Sheriff's Office, the go-kart rolled into a pond, trapping the child underwater. Emergency responders were able to free him, and family members along with firefighters administered CPR.
Despite efforts to save him, the boy was pronounced dead after being airlifted to a hospital in Rochester. An 8-year-old involved in the incident received treatment at the scene.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the go-kart crash. Further investigation is ongoing.
