Woman Killed in Volusia County Accident near Pioneer Trail and Tomoka Farms Road
Volusia County, Florida (July 22, 2023) – A woman sustained fatal injuries after a crash involving a truck Friday afternoon at an intersection in Volusia County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident happened at around 2:22 p.m. on July 21 near Pioneer Trail and Tomoka Farms Road.
The woman was driving a westbound SUV along Pioneer Trail towards Tomoka Farms Road when it veered into the eastbound lane in the direct path of the big rig and collided.
The woman was pronounced dead at the site.
The name of the deceased was not immediately disclosed.
The big rig driver was uninjured, remained at the scene, and cooperated with the investigators.
During the on-scene investigation, the roadway was closed for several hours and was later reopened.
An investigation is underway.
