Belle Glade, Fla. — A vehicle accident involving fire was reported Sunday at approximately 6:39 a.m. on State Road 80.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue (PBCFR) units responded to the scene in the 33000 block. Upon arrival, crews found no flames but noted significant damage to both vehicles involved.
According to the crash report, a vehicle was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Southern Boulevard when it collided with another vehicle heading westbound in the correct lane. The wrong-way driver, identified as 24-year-old Lon'quinten McFadden, failed to yield to oncoming traffic and struck the front of the westbound vehicle, causing both to rotate before coming to a stop.
McFadden was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was transported to St. Mary's Medical Center with critical injuries.
Authorities said the incident remains under investigation. Further details about lane closures or vehicle towing were not provided.
