CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A woman faces DUI charges following a fatal car accident in 2025 that resulted in the death of a pedestrian, as confirmed by the Chesapeake Police Department.
On July 8, 2025, officers responded to a vehicle collision at 2155 S. Military Highway. A car traveling westbound towards Gilmerton Bridge veered off the road and entered the parking lot of a BP gas station, where it struck two men.
Both victims and the driver, identified as Kimberly Horton, were transported to a local hospital. While Horton and one of the men subsequently recovered, the other, David Frank Wade, succumbed to his injuries, according to police reports.
A friend of the victims recounted that the men were in the gas station parking lot, positioned at the rear of a pickup truck, selling watermelons just prior to the incident. He stated he had been in conversation with them shortly before the crash, left for a brief period, and returned upon hearing about the accident.
On Wednesday, Horton, aged 49, was arrested and subsequently charged with DUI involuntary manslaughter the following day, as reported by Chesapeake police.
