CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. — A state trooper rescued a Maryland man from a burning Tesla after a crash on Interstate 95 at 7 a.m. Friday, according to Virginia State Police.
The incident occurred near mile marker 111 when a 2024 Tesla Model Y veered off the road and struck a tree. Witnesses reported that the vehicle caught fire shortly after the collision.
Sgt. S. Page, who was driving northbound, assisted the trapped driver, whose doors were locked. Page broke a window, cut the airbag, and, with bystanders, extricated the driver from the vehicle.
The driver sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and received medical aid at the scene.
Authorities stated that winter weather may have contributed to the crash, which is currently under investigation.
