Two individuals were injured in a rollover crash in Derby, Vermont, on Wednesday evening.
Authorities reported the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. when Vermont State Police and the Derby Line Fire Department responded to a single-vehicle accident involving a white Volvo XC70.
The driver, identified as 20-year-old Aiden Lamoureaux of Newport City, was traveling north on Salem Derby Road when he crossed Vermont Route 105. The vehicle left the roadway and rolled multiple times in a field, ejecting Lamoureaux.
Lamoureaux was transported to UVM Medical Center with serious, life-threatening injuries. It remains unclear if he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The passenger, 19-year-old Aiden Farrand of Charleston, sustained serious injuries but is expected to survive. Authorities confirmed that Farrand was wearing his seatbelt and was taken to North Country Hospital for treatment.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation by State Police. Authorities are urging witnesses who may have seen the Volvo prior to the incident to contact the Derby barracks at 802-334-8881.
